Intern Funds

Here's a little update on some funding changes that you can expect for the summer of 2009. We are hopeful that these changes will be received with joy! Heath or Kristi will call you by Tuesday night (6/2) to discuss any questions you may have. Enjoy!

Oh, and we made this video via a laptop, so please excuse the wobbly view of cut-off heads!

Apartment Needs

The apartments come with the most basic of furniture - couch, twin beds, dressers, as well as a kitchen. It is great if you want to bring your own bedding, but with airline baggage costs the way they are, it is understandable if you'd like to not drag those along! Just let us know if you need bedding and towels; we'll make arrangements to have plenty for you.

You guys will take home any food that is left over from the retreat. We'll also try to get you some basics so that you have a few days covered when you move in. You will be going to stores so much during the entire summer, that you'll have plenty of opportunity to fill your cupboards. We will get you some basic cleaning supplies. We will try to get you some basic kitchen supplies as well - pots & pans, paper plates, etc. Any of this type of thing that you can bring yourselves will be great. Just let us know.

The apartments are pretty bare, so feel free to bring things to make it more homey - throw pillows & blankets, pictures, t.v., laptops, clocks, magazines, fans, etc.

Several of last year's interns enjoyed having access to bikes. That is something we can worth with you on to get, if you are interested.

Laundry?

Yes, please plan to do laundry while you are here this summer. There are laundry facilities in the Concordia apartments. If I remember correctly, you are issued a pre-pay laundry card, which you can add to as needed. Is that right, former interns?

Last But Not Least...

Andy makes up the tenth member of our intern team this year. Andy came out to PSP a few summers ago with his youth group from Chattanooga. He has a ton of cross cultural ministry experience, including mission trips to Mexico, Dominion Republic, the Bahamas, Hurricane Katrina relief, and others. He obviously has a heart for helping those in need in the name of Jesus. Welcome, Andy!

Fundraising Details

Questions are coming in about how to raise funds. Use the packet I sent out as a guide and send me your specific questions. At this point, we "encourage" you to raise the $3000 to cover your own expenses, but you do not have to raise any money. You will still be paid the $800 stipend. If you raise above $3000, we will talk to you about possible ways to use the extra funds, including sharing some with other interns.

If any of these details change, I will be sure to let you know.

Flexibility With Dates?

Someone sent a note asking if they can come in a few days earlier than Saturday, the 6th of June. As long as we know you are coming, we will make sure you have a place to stay! Just let us know when & how you are arriving, so we can make arrangements.
